Blonde Redhead - The One I Love

There's no simple way of saying what Blonde Redhead means to me, because how can one explain the immaterial? There they were, in the turning point of my life, in the turning point of my musical taste; an innocent visit to the local library to randomly search some Japanese music, and I returned home with an intriguing album with a pretty title: Misery Is A Butterfly. Back then I had no real knowledge what Indie or Alternative meant, and so, no expectations of what I was about to hear. The volume might have been a bit too loud, but that's no explanation. It was a blast. Literally. I fell off the chair, aghast.

For a good while Elephant Woman and the rest of the album were a guilty pleasure of mine, like a sweet poison that could be ingested only in small doses — but I was hooked, and have been since. I am convinced it somehow rewired my neurosystem. While under its influence, I could do things I couldn't do otherwise. Everything could be beautiful and magical.
Their new album will be out September 2. Here's the first preview from it, and it's promising:

Broken Records

Broken Records - Winterless Son

In love I was wrong
You were here, I was not
And for all the times that you had tries
I am sorry, cause you were right
And I was wrong
And I am winterless, you are winterless

Won't you please be here tonight?

Two Gallants - Winter's Youth

Two Gallants - Winter's Youth

Two Gallants - Winter's Youth (acoustic version)

in the winter of your youth
with a string tied 'round your tooth
your momma slammed the door
she's gone forever more

from the corners of your mouth
as the truth came wandering out
you long for something else
your life upon the shelf

out upon the open road
you learned to say goodbye
such a lovely day to die
all these things I've seen
within your two blue eyes

in the silence of this town
There's the truth came wandering 'round
your neighbor slams the door
don't wanna hear no more

out upon the open road
you learned to say goodbye
such a lovely day to die
all these things I've seen
within your two blue eyes

Two Gallants - My Love Won't Wait

Darling please don't hesitate
Can I get you now, or must I wait?
I can feel my patience running thin
I stare the wall, walk the floor
But somehow end up at your door
And you refuse to let me in

But something ain't quite right to me
I can't seem to let you leave
My love won't wait

Peggy Sue - And Always Is

I am thoroughly enjoying the new Peggy Sue album. In this song, somewhere between the voices and the guitar riffs, I am reminded of a young Throwing Muses.

Peggy Sue - And Always Is

It's the only thing that moves me
And what they thought was gold was only the sun in their eyes

Hold my heart near the end
Chorus of the gods near the end
Hold my heart near the end
Chorus of the gods near the end

The Tontons

Quite simply my favourite band as of now, probably the biggest since discovering Blonde Redhead way back when. I love their sincerity and endless good vibes they create.

Future Islands

Future Islands have a new album called 'Singles':

Future Islands - Seasons

Seasons change, and I tried hard just to soften you
The seasons change, but I've grown tired of tryin' to change for you
Because I've been waiting on you
I've been waiting on you

[Chorus]
As it breaks, the summer awaits
But the winter washed whats left of the taste
As it breaks, the summer awaits
But the winter craved whats lost
Crave whats all...Gone Away

People change, even though some people never do
You know when people change
They gain a piece but they lose one too
Because I’ve been hanging on you
I’ve been waiting on you

The Augustines - Nothing to Lose but your Head

The Augustines are back, once again called simply 'Augustines' (on their debut album they had to change their name to 'We are Augustines'). While their first album was about coping with loss, this album (also simply called 'Augustines') is about starting to live again.
