Lisa Hannigan - Free until they cut me down

Lisa Hannigan - Free until they cut me down

Lisa Hannigan performs an earthy rendition of the Iron & Wine song, 'Free until they cut me down':

When the men take me to the devil tree
I will be free and shining like before
Papa don't tell me what I should've done
She's the one who begged me
"Take me, take me home"

When the wind wraps me like the reaper's hand
I will swing free until they cut me down
Papa don't tell me what I could've done
She's the one who begged me
"Take me, take me home"

When the sea takes me like my mother's arms
I will breathe free as any word of God
Papa don't tell me what you would've done
She's the one who begged me
"Take me, take me home"

Ben Howard - I forget where we were (solo session)

Ben Howard - I forget where we were

Oh, hey,
I wasn't listening
I was watching Syria blinded by the sunshine strip
You, you were in the kitchen
Oh, your mariner’s mouth the wounded with the wounder's whip

And that's how summer passed oh,
The great divide and range of green green grass
Oh, maybe it was peace at last, who knew

Hello love, my invincible friend
Hello love, the thistle and the burr
Hello love, for you I have so many words
But I, I forget where we were

Oh, hey,
I wasn't listening,
I was stung by all of us, the blind leading out the bored
And as per usual,
You were skipping and laughing eyes at the bedroom door

Don't take it so seriously, no
Only time is ours, the rest we'll just wait and see
Maybe you're right, babe, maybe

She Keeps Bees

She Keeps Bees - Is What it is

bow to the power
make sure it knows
how heavy it is
be not completely
consumed
do not surrender
is what it is
it is
it's that kind of life
you are worthy
i am worthy
put me in the middle
you better push a bit more
how we are now
do not surrender
is what it is
it is
it's that kind of life
you are worthy
i am worthy
needed to have it happen

Uniform Motion

Another song and another cute animated video :)

Uniform Motion - Roll Over

Home
Surround the halo
Held up to a clear night sky
Smilin' at the moon
Roll over soon
Become the hero
Down beyond the orbit of your sight
Steaming on a crush
Roll over

Roll over soon

Gently moving, scarcely born
Sitting back to front on the top of the moon
I say it's not happening, I'm falling asleep
Something has to budge before the end of the week

And I smile expressionlessly
And I smile

Uniform Motion

(From their site: http://uniformmotion.net/)

Uniform Motion is an illustrated indie-folk band combining music with visual arts created by Andy Richards and Renaud Forestie in 2008, joined by Olivier Piotte (drums, percussions, keys) in 2011.

Uniform Motion - Without You

Give us a sign, we've got all these dreams and we still don't know what to do.
We've been waiting for you to show for such a long time.
And there's no show and there's no show without you.
And there's no show without you.

Give us a break, we've got all these leads and we still don't know where to go.
We've been waiting for you to come for such a long time.
And there's no show and there's no show without you.
And there's no fun without you.

And don't go wasting your time
You'll find the clues at the end of the line.

And don't go wasting my time
You'll find the clues at the end of the line.

Ben Howard - End Of The Affair

Ben Howard - End Of The Affair

The end of the affair
The weight of the world
The kindness gone to bed
It's free of your laughter
Alive in the halls
Did he hear, did he hear
The fumbled words you said

Living without her
Living at all
Seems to slow me down
Living forever
Hell, I don't know
Do I care, do I care
The thunder's rumbled sound

Now I watch her
Running 'round in love again
Now I talk about you
When I'm with our mutual friends

This is it
This is just it
Go to him
What the hell, love?
What the hell?

Angus & Julia Stone - From The Stalls

From their gorgeous, new, self-titled album:

Angus & Julia Stone - From The Stalls

I see you, I see you waiting
I saw you, I saw you standing there
You wanted to be over that stone wall
Over that first floor, over that old hotel room

Tell 'em what you're here for, you don't know
Oh, you go there, you go there
But you go there, you go there
Yeah, you do

Bobby stands behind me, feels my pulse
Until the horses run like from the stalls
I know you can win this
You've got too much in this
You're just standing, watch me fall!
I bet you wanted to be over that stone wall
Over that first floor, over that old hotel room

Lily and Madeleine

Lily and Madeleine - "Back To The River"

If only my feet could fall as fast as a heart does
I would be so long gone
But I'm stuck, stuck under your thumb
I can't get up
I can't get up, up I can't get up
If only my eyes could see as high as a mountain
Or wherever your heart's gone
But I have fallen on the bank of this river
I can't get up
I can't get up, up I can't get up
If only my heart could speak into this river
And you'd drink me up
I could be free of all these lonesome shivers
I could give myself up (give myself up)
We all go back to the river
We will all come undone
And there you will be, my love, with the faintest touch
And I will give myself up
Give myself up, up
I will give myself up

Broken Records

Broken Records - Winterless Son

In love I was wrong
You were here, I was not
And for all the times that you had tries
I am sorry, cause you were right
And I was wrong
And I am winterless, you are winterless

Won't you please be here tonight?

First Aid Kit

There is a new First Aid Kit album 'Stay Gold', and the world is better place for it. The first single is 'My Silver Lining'

First Aid Kit - My Silver Lining

I hear a voice calling
Calling out for me
These shackles I've made in an attempt to be free
Be it for reason, be it for love
I won't take the easy road

I've woken up in a hotel room,my worries as big as the moon
Having no idea who or what or where I am
Something good comes with the bad
A song's never just sad
There's hope, there's a silver lining
Show me my silver lining
Show me my silver lining

Sea Wolf

Music consists of structures - harmonies, melodies, rhythms that we inbibe as we listen to it. We internalise the structures; they imprint on our souls, and this is what lets us reproduce the sounds - tap a rhythm, hum a melody. This is true of all music.

This is why, what excited me about the new Sea Wolf album was not just the novelty of listening to a new album by a great band, but also - the anticipation of the new person I would become while hearing it.

The new album is called 'Song Spells, No. 1: Cedarsmoke'.

Peggy Sue - And Always Is

I am thoroughly enjoying the new Peggy Sue album. In this song, somewhere between the voices and the guitar riffs, I am reminded of a young Throwing Muses.

Peggy Sue - And Always Is

It's the only thing that moves me
And what they thought was gold was only the sun in their eyes

Hold my heart near the end
Chorus of the gods near the end
Hold my heart near the end
Chorus of the gods near the end

The Augustines - Nothing to Lose but your Head

The Augustines are back, once again called simply 'Augustines' (on their debut album they had to change their name to 'We are Augustines'). While their first album was about coping with loss, this album (also simply called 'Augustines') is about starting to live again.

Egg Hell - Suffering

Egg Hell - Suffering

Suffering you're floating in the void
among thought-waves long destroyed
our starry heads are yours
dazed
and locked again
in your horny embrace

I find everything there
everything that exists
I find myself whole again
jumping to reach your fists

Suffering your eyes are so aware
they only flinch sometimes out of care
and then you can be seen
free of space debris
your dark and silent love
