There's no simple way of saying what Blonde Redhead means to me, because how can one explain the immaterial? There they were, in the turning point of my life, in the turning point of my musical taste; an innocent visit to the local library to randomly search some Japanese music, and I returned home with an intriguing album with a pretty title: Misery Is A Butterfly. Back then I had no real knowledge what Indie or Alternative meant, and so, no expectations of what I was about to hear. The volume might have been a bit too loud, but that's no explanation. It was a blast. Literally. I fell off the chair, aghast.
For a good while Elephant Woman and the rest of the album were a guilty pleasure of mine, like a sweet poison that could be ingested only in small doses — but I was hooked, and have been since. I am convinced it somehow rewired my neurosystem. While under its influence, I could do things I couldn't do otherwise. Everything could be beautiful and magical.
